Volunteer Opportunities

DESK RECEPTIONIST - The reception desk at the Center is staffed with volunteers.  There are two different time slots 9:00 am until noon and noon until 3:00 pm.  This job consists of answering the telephone, greeting members and guests, and various other duties.  An orientation is provided.

FUNDRAISERS - The Center has several fundraisers throughout the year.  These events require a great deal of volunteer assistance.  The monthly newsletter announces the times and dates of these events.

KITCHEN HELPERS - Kitchen helpers are needed to assist the cook Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Contact the Center for more details.

LIBRARY AID - Volunteers are needed to check in books, keep books organized, and straighten the books.  Contact the office if you are interested.

NEWSLETTER COLLATING - Once a month the newsletter is published and help is needed in collating, labeling and folding the newsletter.  Contact the office if you are interested in helping with this event.

SENIORS IN THE SCHOOLS - This program places seniors in the elementary schools throughout the district.  They assist the students with a variety of tasks.  Contact the office if you are interested.

SERVICE CIRCLE - The third Wednesday of each month the Center provides a birthday party for the residents of the Arbors Care Center.  If you would like to assist with this event by entertaining, making party favors or serving refreshments, contact the Center.

SIGN IN BOOK-a sign in book is kept at the reception desk.  Activity participants are asked to sign in and indicate the activity they are attending.

SWIMMING POOL MEMBERSHIP-Members of the Senior Center receive a discount at the Hilliard Swimming Pool.  Memberships go on sale in April.  

SENIOR CENTER RENTAL-The Center can be rented for a small fee.  If you are interested, please call the Community Center at 876-5200.  


Red Hat Society

The Center has a registered Red Hat Society which meets monthly for lunch, tea or for tours to local places of interest.  Dates and times are listed in the newsletter.

  • HALL OF FAME – The Hilliard Senior Hall of Fame began in 1987 to honor an outstanding senior citizen 65 years of age or older in the community.

Trips

Various one day trips are planned throughout the year to dinner theaters, museums and other points of interest in the area.  Longer 3 to 4 day trips to points of interest outside the area are also planned.
